I-5 near Sacramento airport to close overnight for construction. Here’s when

Overnight construction on Interstate 5 between Woodland and Sacramento International Airport will require some motorists to take detours beginning Sunday.

Crews will remove and replace pavement on I-5 at the Yolo Bypass, starting with the northbound span.

Northbound traffic will be detoured nightly from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m. through the end of the month, Caltrans District 3 said in a news release. Crews were scheduled to shift to the southbound span Nov. 1, with overnight closures continuing through Nov. 20.

Caltrans advised commercial truck drivers to use Highway 113 and Interstate 80 to avoid the closures.

Local motorists were advised to use County Road 22.

The speed limit will be reduced to 55 mph in the work zone, and motorists should expect delays, Caltrans said.

The southbound closures were expected to delay motorists traveling from Woodland to Sacramento International Airport. Caltrans advised travelers to allow extra time to catch their flights.
