For years FanDuel has been one of the biggest sports gambling companies in the United States, transforming into a juggernaut with major influence across multiple sports. But as new competitors enter the market, FanDuel has struggled and now their CEO is on the outs.

According to CNBC, FanDuel CEO Amy Howe has been axed after five years at the helm. FanDuel president Christian Genetski will reportedly step in and serve as the new CEO for the time being. The decision was made mere hours before Flutter was set to do their 2026 Q1 earnings call.
“FanDuel CEO Amy Howe has been ousted from that post after five years at the company, people familiar with the matter told CNBC,” Contessa Brewer wrote on Wednesday.
“Christian Genetski, FanDuel president, will step in to lead the company, according to the people, who asked not to be named in order to speak about internal matters.”
FanDuel vs. The Market
Brewer noted that FanDuel’s parent company Flutter suffered a four-percent drop in Wednesday afternoon trading and is now down nearly 60-percent over the last year alone. Flutter reportedly saw a rather disappointing earnings report in the fourth quarter of 2025.
FanDuel’s struggles seem to be part of a larger industry trend of stock market struggles as DraftKings is reportedly down 30-percent in that same period.

CNBC noted the meteoric rise of prediction markets as the competitor that seems to be eating their lunch.
As for Howe, betting fans aren’t exactly sad to see her go, especially on the heels of FanDuel’s disastrous struggles during the Kentucky Derby last week. The app was reportedly not working for large swaths of this past Saturday on one of the biggest betting days of the entire year and fans are happy that someone is paying the price.
“This… moron couldn’t have the app prepared to work during the Kentucky Derby,” one user remarked.
“Not really shocking after the derby fiasco,” another remarked.
“She ran the company into the ground,” a third wrote.
“The app breaking down on Derby Day didn’t help.”
“She destroyed the company. Rotten from inside out. Killed TVG and gave up on FanDuel Racing. As a reward got the Golden Parachute.”
FanDuel has made a number of seismic changes to their offerings in recent years. Perhaps the Flutter earnings call will indicate what other changes we can expect from it in the months to come.
