The Department of Homeland Security says Manvir Singh, 24, caused a four-vehicle crash near Lodi that killed two people Tuesday. He’s accused of veering off the road and striking a guardrail.
Singh is accused of attempting to flee the scene before California Highway Patrol officers arrested him.
He was charged with vehicular manslaughter, hit-and-run resulting in death or injury and obstructing/resisting a police officer, per San Joaquin County booking records.

DHS accuses Singh of being an undocumented immigrant from India and wants him to be kept in custody.
Singh is due in court Thursday afternoon. His bail has been set at $185,000.
