Improvements to Elk Grove Florin Road between Elk Grove Boulevard and Calvine Road are planned to “add and improve mobility and accessibility for pedestrians, cyclists, and transit users,” the city’s website reads.

Changes planned for the road include pavement resurfacing, closing gaps in sidewalks, upgrading curb ramps to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act, adding upgraded bike lanes and bikeways, and upgrading video detection,

Construction is expected to begin this summer or fall, according to city spokesperson Kristin Nelson. Work is expected to finish in November, the staff report said.

The total project cost is $3.9 million, according to Christina Castro, the city’s capital program division manager.

According to , federal grants will fund $3.1 million for the project, and another $857,000 will come from California’s Senate Bill 1, the gas tax known as the Road Repair and Accountability Act of 2017.
