Police identified the homicide suspect as Rudy Hader, 25.
About midnight Thursday, officers responded to reports of a woman who had been stabbed in the 2300 block of Rene Avenue, police said.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene with at least one stab wound, the release said. The woman’s name will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office after next of kin are notified.
Investigators then collected evidence and arrested Hader on suspicion of fatally stabbing the woman, the release said. Hader was booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail about midnight Friday and is ineligible for bail, according to jail logs.
According to Yolo County Superior Court logs, Hader was awaiting rulings on multiple felony cases in Yolo County at the time of the alleged stabbing, including violating a probation agreement by possessing firearms, and had been due to appear in court on July 23.

The first case filed against Hader stemmed from a Sept. 10 event in which he allegedly harmed his spouse, with additional charges of grand theft, vandalism and possessing a gun when he was not permitted to do so.
On March 25, deputies with the Yolo County Sheriff’s Office arrested Hader for possessing multiple firearms and ammunition while being a convicted felon and on supervised probation relating to the September incident.
Hader pleaded not guilty in both cases, according to court logs.
He was booked in Yolo County Jail but was released on $10,000 bail, court logs show. A judge previously exonerated a $30,000 bond tied to the Sept. 10 incident when he was initially placed on probation. The bail was re-issued in April, after the March 25 incident.
The cause of Thursday’s stabbing is still under investigation, police said.
