A boat crashed Thursday into the shore of Town Creek Cove on the Sulanharas Creek in Shasta County, ejecting an adult male and female and a juvenile from on board, according to a news release from the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office. The adult male later died at a local hospital.

The Sheriff’s Office received a report of the incident at approximately 5:21 p.m. After the crash, a civilian vessel in the area came to the aid of the three victims and transported them to Bridge Bay Marina. The adult male and juvenile were subsequently transported to a local hospital, where the adult male died.
Deputies from the Sheriff’s Office Boating Safety Unit investigated the scene, and as of Friday, believed that the juvenile was wearing a floatation device at the time of the crash, while the adults were not.

As of Friday, the Boating Safety Unit and Shasta County Coroner’s Office were continuing to investigate the incident. A postmortem examination is planned for the adult male, who has been positively identified, and was from Palo Cedro.
In the news release, the Sheriff’s Office encouraged the public to wear proper safety equipment and to wear personal floatation devices while on the water.
