UC Davis will upgrade one of its busiest parking lots this summer in a $3.7 million project aimed at improving pedestrian and bicycle safety.

The project will reconfigure Parking Lot 25 at the Activities and Recreation Center, or ARC, to improve traffic flow and separate vehicle, bicycle and pedestrian traffic. Work also includes improvements to Orchard Road, La Rue Road, Blue Ridge Road and the Sprocket Bikeway.
Planned improvements include a redesigned entrance, a separated bike lane, a dedicated pedestrian sidewalk, new crosswalks, upgrades to the bicycle roundabout, additional bike parking, pedestrian lighting, landscaping, paving and striping.

Parking Lot 25 closed June 15 and will remain closed through Sept. 11. During the closure, drivers are encouraged to use the Pavilion Parking Structure. Six accessible parking spaces near the ARC entrance will remain available throughout construction.
Western Engineering will complete the $3.7 million project, which is expected to be finished in winter 2027.
