A plaza dedicated solely to food trucks has arrived in Citrus Heights.
The plaza at 7509 Twin Oaks Ave. was created to support small food truck businesses, said plaza manager Satvinder Singh. Instead of having to travel from street to street, this venue allows the food trucks to remain as long as they wish.

“Small business food truck owners had to rotate every two, three hours from street to street,” Satvinder said. “So I said, ‘why don’t we just give them a permanent spot with the utilities where they don’t have to move around?”
The trucks started serving customers on June 22, featuring two restaurants: Pizza & Tandoori and One Treat At A Time, according to the plaza’s social media. Pizza & Tandoori serves Indian fusion pizza and other classic Tandoori and curry dishes, while One Treat At A Time serves sweet drinks, such as lemonade and boba.
A bacon-themed food truck, Bacon Mania, makes its debut on July 1, according to Satvinder. Other businesses on their way the same week are Taco Chapalas and West Coast Taco Bar.

The plaza is now filling up a previously vacant lot along 8400 Auburn Blvd. on Twin Oaks Avenue. Citrus Heights Food Plaza is roughly 25,000 to 28,000 square feet, and has been permitted for 16 food trucks and trailers. There are 32 parking spaces and 2 disabled parking spots within the plaza, Satvinder said.
The plaza is still accepting applications for food vendors, he said.
Trucks are required to be individually licensed, including passing a health inspection and getting a permit from the city of Citrus Heights, Satvinder noted. The plaza will offer basic utilities, including trash pickup and cleanup services. The Citrus Heights food truck plaza is open every day from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.
