Dantas appeared in 12 games for Indiana this season, averaging 3.3 points and 1.5 rebounds in 8.2 minutes per contest. The Fever announced on Aug. 4 that the Brazilian big underwent successful knee surgery the day before “to repair a torn meniscus in her left knee.”

While Dantas is expected to make a full recovery, the surgery effectively ruled her out for the rest of the campaign. An athlete usually needs six to nine months to get back to playing after a meniscus repair operation.

Now, as the Fever prepare for the final four games of the regular season and the upcoming WNBA playoffs, Dantas is away from the team as she continues to recover from her injury.

On Tuesday, Dantas shared an update about her current status. In a photo she posted on her Instagram stories, she can be seen wearing a knee brace and using crutches to walk.

While Dantas didn’t reveal any information about her current condition, it’s worth noting that it’s the first time she has shared a photo of herself since she posted a photo from a bed following her surgery.

Dantas has maintained an optimistic attitude since her season-ending injury. In a message she shared last month, she promised to return to the court soon.

“Thank you all for the love, prayers, and kind messages,” Dantas wrote. “I’m truly grateful for all the support I’ve been receiving. It means so much to me. Now it’s time to focus on my recovery, trust the process, and come back stronger. I’ll be back on the court soon. See you all soon.”
