The victory improved Silva’s UFC record to 7-1 overall with six finishes, and it should be enough for him to get the next UFC featherweight title shot.
Jean Silva Is a Star For the UFC
With seven wins in eight UFC fights, Silva is undoubtedly a star for the promotion.
Not only can “Lord” fight, but he can also talk trash with the best of them — and best of all, he backs up his trash talk with his work inside the cage.
Since losing at last year’s Noche UFC to Diego Lopes, a 2025 Fight of the Year candidate, Silva is 2-0 in 2026, with a decision win over top-ranked Arnold Allen and now a submission win over Delgado.

Watching Silva do what he does inside the Octagon has been incredible to see, as he has proven he is not just a knockout artist, but a well-rounded mixed martial artist who can also grapple his opponents and submit them when the fight hits the mat.
His well-rounded game makes him one of the most dangerous fighters in the world at 145 lbs.
After his win over Delgado at Noche UFC, Silva called for a featherweight title shot, and he seems likely to get it, as the UFC brass absolutely loves him, as do the fans.
When you have won over both the boss who pays your salary and the fans who pay money to watch you fight, you know you’re a real star, and that’s exactly where Silva is right now, and why he should be next in line to fight for the belt at 145 lbs.
UFC Featherweight Title On the Line in October
The UFC featherweight title is on the line at UFC 333 in October when champion Alexander Volkanovski fights challenger Movsar Evloev.

The winner of that fight should already be thinking ahead to a showdown against Silva in 2027, because he’s going to be next in line for a crack at the belt.
Whether Volkanovski retains his belt or Evloev becomes the new champion, Silva will be a fresh opponent for both men, and the UFC loves it when they promote a brand-new fight for the title.
Volkanovski vs. Silva is an extremely intriguing fight and one that fans have been thinking about for several years now, as the Aussie Volkanovski has been a two-time champion at 145 lbs.
As for Evloev, the undefeated Russian is 20-0 in his MMA career, including a 10-0 mark inside the Octagon, so if he beats Volkanovski at UFC 333, he makes for a very intriguing opponent for Silva in what would be his first title defense.
Either way, the UFC can’t lose, as both Volkanovski and Evloev represent terrific options for Silva, as each fight would be highly entertaining.
Against Delgado, Silva entered the bout as a significant betting favorite, but he did what he had to do and not only won the fight, but he finished his opponent, too.
The fact that he finished Delgado in such a vicious fashion should make him undoubtedly the next man in line to fight for UFC featherweight gold, as he has surpassed decision machine Aljamain Sterling for the next crack at the 145 lbs belt.
Given how exciting a fighter Silva is, it’s sure going to be a lot of fun when he gets the chance to finally fight for the title next year.
