“Harry Potter” author J.K. Rowling took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to praise some young WNBA fans for “heroic” behavior at a game earlier this week.

The Seattle Storm hosted the Indiana Fever on Tuesday night. Fever guard Sophie Cunningham has been outspoken in her stance on transgender athletes in women’s sports. Cunningham believes it’s “common sense” to keep transgender athletes out of women’s sports.
“I said what I said. I think it’s kind of common sense,” Cunningham told reporters. “And I think I’ll always believe in that. I think it’s really important to protect children, and that’s little girls who are also involved in that category. I stand on what I said.”
On Tuesday night, two teen girls attended the Fever at Storm game. The two teen girls wore “XX XY” shirts, which are worn by those who want to keep transgender athletes out of women’s sports.
An owner for the Seattle Storm reportedly cursed out the girls and wanted them taken out of the arena.

Rowling, who has been active in her opinions on transgender athletes, called out the Seattle Storm owners on social media. She also praised the young fans for their “heroic” behavior at the game.

The “Harry Potter” owner did not hold back.
“These young women are heroines,” she wrote on X.
“They’re peacefully protesting against the grotesque unfairness of men playing in women’s sport. The only people who are “(expletive) insane” here are those making a mockery of fair sport for women and trying to bully girls like this into silence.”
Rowling has received support from some and blowback from others when it comes to her stances on transgender athletes in women’s sports.
But she’s made it extremely clear where she stands and she’s letting the WNBA know about it.
