Koja Kitchen, a Korean-Japanese fusion restaurant along K Street, has closed, according to a social media announcement from the business posted Wednesday night.

Koja Kitchen first opened at 732 K St. in 2019 after launching as a food truck in the San Francisco Bay Area in 2011, according to its website. The Northern California chain was known for its Kojas, a sandwich filled with Korean BBQ meat and sauces between garlic-fried-rice buns.
“Thank you for the years of support, incredible memories, and love you’ve shared with us at this location,” the owners wrote on social media. “We are incredibly grateful for every guest who walked through our doors, every order we served, and every memory made over the years.”
Koja Kitchen did not respond to a request for comment from The Sacramento Bee.
In the restaurant’s closure announcement, its owners told its loyal customers to “stay tuned” for news on which business is coming as a replacement.

“While this chapter is closing, a new one is coming to this space very soon,” the owners wrote.
Koja Kitchen currently has five locations scattered throughout the Bay Area. The nearest location to Sacramento is its Berkeley restaurant on Telegraph Avenue.
