“I think we didn’t have any major injuries for the first game, so that was really big. We obviously pulled people really early with concern of our depth and things. So the good part about it is a lot of guys got to play,” Kiffin said postgame.
“I thought our guys, outside of some guys late with a few things, played really well. I know you’re supposed to win these games big, but that doesn’t always happen. Or maybe you do well in the first quarter, first half, but you come out flat in the third quarter. And I thought our guys really responded well out of the locker room. Played really good early third quarter.
“So it was good to see a lot of guys make plays. A lot of snaps for guys, which was the goal. The goal is to get up, but then to evaluate these guys because they’re going to need to play with the injuries that we have down the stretch. Now you’ve got seven conference games in a row. So, 101 plays of offense, a lot of snaps for backups to get in there and do some things.”
