Colin Kaepernick and Jay-Z are both connected to the NFL in different ways.
The former NFL quarterback and the hip-hop star are both part of the football culture. Kaepernick, of course, last played in 2016, when he started kneeling for the national anthem. Jay-Z, meanwhile, has played a big role in the league’s efforts off of the field, helping choose the Super Bowl halftime show performers.

However, in a recent on-stage appearance, Jay-Z appeared to get caught taking a public shot at Kaepernick, for how he’s handled his controversy surrounding the league.
“You picking & choosing the politicking as usual, they digging deep for narratives, it’s embarrassing, they running outta characters, had to bring back up Kaep again,” Jay-Z rapped during a show at Yankee Stadium.
In 2019, the NFL reached a settlement with Kaepernick, as he accused the league of black-balling him.

The exact terms of the settlement are unclear.
“In a freestyle last night, Jay Z says Colin Kaepernick signed an NDA with the NFL in his 2019 confidential settlement with the league. Jay Z partners with the league as the official live music entertainment strategist through Roc Nation,” Jonathan Jones, a lead NFL insider for CBS, reported.

“He & Kaep aint cool no more,” one fan wrote.
“Once you take the money and sign nda your whole fight dead. Especially when you try to work for the company after all that. It dont even make sense,” one fan added.
“Incredibly arrogant and out of touch,” another fan wrote.
“Do better, Jay-Z,” one fan added.
“Tryna shift the narrative to Kaep is crazy. Kaep took a knee and a public beating. Lost his job and everything Thst came with it. You didn’t. They actually used you to try an get back in the good graces of the ppl after what they did to Kaep for taking a knee,” another fan wrote.
