The transformation of a vacant Rite Aid drugstore into a Dollar Tree retail store continues on the west side of Victorville.

As the bankrupt drug store chain closed its remaining stores in 2025, several companies and organizations came to the rescue by filling empty locations across the U.S. and the High Desert.
A crew continued to work on the vacant Rite Aid building this week at the corner of Mojave Drive and El Evado Road, west of Amargosa Road.
On Wednesday, several customers from the nearby Jack in the Box restaurant tried peeking into the empty building, which displayed a banner that read “Dollar Tree Coming Soon!”
The company did not reveal an expected opening date of the new Dollar Tree, which offers a wide variety of general merchandise, including houseware, seasonal items, candy, food, toys, health and beauty products, gifts, party goods, stationery and books.
Filling empty Rite Aids
While several Rite Aid buildings remain vacant in the High Desert, some have been spoken for, including one located at the corner of Barstow and East Rimrock roads.
Barstow Community College received a state grant earlier this year that will help fund construction and renovation of the vacant building into a new Career Technical Education Workforce Training Center, the Daily Press reported.

SAC Health, the largest specialty-based and teaching Federally Qualified Health Center in the U.S., will occupy the former Rite Aid building located at the corner of 7th Street and La Paz Drive in Victorville.
This summer, Spirit Halloween moved into the vacant Rite Aid building in the Jess Ranch Marketplace in Apple Valley.
In May 2025, Mills Hardware store moved into the shuttered Rite Aid at 4120 Phelan Road, in Phelan.
