Brazil is going home.
The top contenders at the 2026 FIFA Men’s World Cup in North America were upset by Norway, 2-1, at New York New Jersey Stadium on Sunday afternoon. Norway’s star forward, Erling Haaland, scored two goals to give his team the lead and ultimately the victory, as they advance into the Round of 8.

Neymar, playing in what is likely his last World Cup, did score late, converting on a penalty kick. Following his goal, Neymar taunted and had words for Norway’s goalie, Ørjan Nyland, who had a tremendous game.
It’s unclear what was said between the two players, but doing any sort of talking or trash talk, down 2-1 with just seconds remaining in the game, is a pathetic look.

“Classless,” one wrote.
“I’m hearing that Neymar has never played past the quarterfinals of any World Cup. Cant be true,” one added.
“Neymar ends his World Cup career converting a pk and getting eliminated. Sad sad ending, he deserved better,” one fan added.

“What a stupid decision to bring Neymar….Joao Pedro would have offered so much more,” one fan added.
“Why can Neymar never have a happy ending in football just humiliation ritual after humiliation ritual since 2015 it’s so annoying he doesn’t deserve this,” one fan added.
“Come on, man, be better,” one shared.
“Big whoop Neymar. Useless goal,” one fan added.
Norway is on to the quarterfinals, while Brazil, which last won a World Cup title 2002, is going home in the Round of 16.
The 2026 World Cup will continue on Sunday evening, with a massive Round of 16 showdown between England and Mexico. It’ll air live on FOX at 8 p.m. E.T.
