President Donald J. Trump didn’t play football growing up – he was more of a baseball player and now a golfer – but he’ll still be watching with a close eye this fall.
The President of the United States spoke with ESPN’s Laura Rutledge at The Patriot Games in Ohio last week. The Patriot Games, started by President Trump, look to give out thousands in scholarship money to teen athletes across the country. President Trump attended the games in person in Ohio and spoke with ESPN.
President Trump gave ESPN his three NFL team picks for the 2026 season.
“Well, maybe I’ll pick a few. I think New England looks good. I think the Giants – I like their quarterback a lot. They say the LA Rams are looking very strong,” Trump said during the event. “But I’d better not get into this too much. I’m going to get myself into trouble if I do.”
“I think you have a lot of good teams – a lot of great teams. We’ll see how it turns out. I’ll be watching,” Trump said.
NFL fans, though, aren’t really buying his picks for the 2026 season. At least, fans can’t believe that he’s putting the Giants in the same sentence as the Rams and Patriots.

Also, fans believe that President Trump is essentially “cursing” these three teams by touting them before kickoff this fall.
