Last year it took the New York Jets over eight weeks to get their first win of the season under new head coach Aaron Glenn. This year it only took one.

The Jets went into Nissan Stadium to take on the Tennessee Titans, led by their former head coach Robert Saleh and rostered with a number of former Jets players. It wasn’t a flawless performance by any means, but they controlled the game from the get-go.
On their opening drive, they scored a touchdown with an end-around touchdown run from rookie tight end Kenyon Sadiq. From that point on, they led all the way to the final whistle.
The Jets offense was efficient, with starting QB Geno Smith completing over 79-percent of his passes in his first game for the team since 2016. Star running back Breece Hall, in his first game since signing a contract extension in the offseason, had over 100 rushing yards and a touchdown to kick off his fifth season with the team.
The Jets defense, which ranked among the worst in the league last year, handled the Titans offense pretty handily, holding them to under 200 yards of total offense and not even allowing a touchdown until the fourth quarter, when they already led by 20.

There haven’t been many (or really any) reasons for Jets fans to celebrate over the past 22 months or so, so seeing their team get above .500 for the first time in nearly two years certainly felt like a reason to celebrate.
“This is one of the most satisfying Jets wins ever. Credit to Aaron Glenn and the entire Jets team. The way they dominated the second half was incredible. This was a must win game and they did it,” one Jets fan wrote on X.

“Man that was a solid jets win! Thank you (Jets),” wrote another.
“jets game wasnt even close. wish AG and frank reich were more aggressive but still great win,” a third wrote.
Unfortunately, it’ll probably be the last time Jets fans get to celebrate for a while. Their schedule for the next few weeks is fairly daunting for any team, let alone one that had just three wins last year.
They have their home opener against the Green Bay Packers in Week 2 then are back on the road to take on the Detroit Lions and Chicago Bears. They’ll be lucky to win even one of those games, let alone two or three.
A winnable game against the Cleveland Browns at home is in Week 5 followed by a game they will lose on the road against the New England Patriots.
Even so, if the Jets manage to end these first six games with a mere 2-4 record, it will be a vast improvement over last year. There just aren’t enough winnable games on the schedule for a roster and coaching staff this terrible to be thinking playoffs though.
