Nick Pivetta got his work in on Tuesday afternoon.
Finally.
Three weeks after walking off a minor league mound with elbow discomfort, Pivetta threw 47 pitches (35 strikes) over three innings for low Single-A Lake Elsinore on Tuesday at Rancho Cucamonga.

The rust was evident.
Pivetta allowed three runs on four hits, including two homers, while walking one. He struck out four and turned in a one-two-three second inning after a rocky first before allowing a second homer with one out in the third inning.
Pivetta has not pitched in the majors since leaving his fourth start of the season, back in April, with a flexor injury.
He’s spent more than 130 straight days on the injured list, which will allow the Padres to convert his $14 million play option into a team option after the season, but Pivetta is still aiming to re-join the roster next month in some capacity.

DH Ethan Salas (.908 OPS) went 0-for-4 with a walk and a run scored. 3B Gage Workman (.597 OPS) went 3-for-5 with two doubles and a run scored. C Blake Hunt (1.034 OPS) went 1-for-2 with a triple, an RBI, two walks and a run scored. RHP Alek Jacob (4.96 ERA) recorded five outs for his eighth save.

DOUBLE-A SAN ANTONIO (54-67)
Springfield 8, Missions 0: RHP Eric Yost (7-3, 3.63 ERA) allowed six runs on 11 hits and a walk in five innings in the loss. 3B Luis Verdugo (.677 OPS) went 2-for-4. LF Tirso Ornelas (.738 OPS) and DH Romeo Sanabria (.787 OPS) both went 1-for-3 with a walk.
HIGH SINGLE-A FORT WAYNE (50-69)
Dayton 9, TinCaps 6: RHP Winyer Chourio (7.55 ERA) struck out seven but allowed four runs – two earned – in 2 ⅔ innings in the start. CF Kasen Wells (.668 OPS) drove in two runs on two hits, including his second homer. DH Robbie Lavey (.817 OPS) went 2-for-4 with a double, an RBI and a run scored.
DSL SEMIFINALS
Padres Gold 8, Giants Black 3: The Padres won a second game in a row to clinch the best-of-three series and advance to the finals. C Dayquer Alfonzo tripled and doubled and 2B Yorvin Morla doubled in two runs and walked. Former Padres SS prospect Joniel Hernandez, the lynchpin of the Robbie Ray trade earlier this month, went 1-for-5 with an RBI in the elimination game.
