Pat McAfee Rips Fans For Spreading False ‘College GameDay’ Rumor

ESPN personality Pat McAfee is fed up with some of his fans.

The former NFL punter turned sports media mogul has been a key part of ESPN’s “College GameDay” for several years now. In some ways, McAfee is replacing Lee Corso and the energy that he brought to the show. But will McAfee be replacing Corso’s mascot head picking segment, too?

A rumor swirled on social media suggesting that it was the case. McAfee will be taking over for Corso in the headgear segment.

However, that rumor is not accurate.

Fans were immediately upset by the rumor.

“How dare you take Lee Corso’s head gear tradition,” a user named The Great Gamblino wrote. “That’s his and not yours. Have some respect, my man. Just a damn shame you are taking his legacy as your own.”

McAfee, though, has already shot it down. And he’s bothered by the constant false rumors spreading about him.

McAfee shoots down false rumor

“With all due respect with Mr Gamblino.. I have no idea what you’re talking about. Coach Corso’s Head Gear was retired after week 1 last year (Coach Corso went perfect on that day as well) I have come to a fun chapter where folks just make stuff up to make me look like a bigger (expletive). I know you wouldn’t believe blatantly fake stuff Mr Gamblino but this might be one of those cases,” he clapped back on X, formerly known as Twitter.

It has to be tiring for McAfee to constantly respond to rumors like this, but it’s good that he shot this one down.
