Pedestrian seriously injured in South Oak Park hit-and-run, Sacramento police say

A pedestrian was taken to a hospital and was in critical condition after being struck in South Oak Park on Friday evening by two vehicles, one of which fled the scene, Sacramento police said.

The vehicles hit the pedestrian shortly after 9 p.m. in the 4500 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, near Christian Brothers High School, Sacramento Police Department spokesperson Officer Anthony Gamble said.

The first vehicle left the scene before police arrived, Gamble said. The driver of the second vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities, he said.

The pedestrian remained in critical condition as of Saturday morning, Gamble said.

No suspect vehicle description was immediately available. The incident remains under investigation.
