The Rams opened the season in Australia. Los Angeles was blown out by division rival San Francisco to open the year. The Rams entered the season as Super Bowl frontrunners, but they didn’t look like it in Week 1.
But that’s not what people are talking about on Monday.
Instead, it’s a story from CBS’s “60 Minutes.” Matthew Stafford and Rams players admitted to seeing a viral photo of their head coach and his wife on a boat while they were on vacation overseas.
The photo of McVay and his wife, rocking their best vacation swimsuits, can be seen in full here.
“Have you seen the viral shot of the abs on the boat?” CBS’s Jon Wertheim asked Stafford.
Stafford responded: “Oh yeah. Oh yeah…I mean, we all were like, ‘We better hit the weight room, because this guy’s (LAUGH) shredded.’ I mean, that’s the guy– no, he’s– he’s– he’s putting the time and the effort in.”

The photo went viral throughout the locker room, it appears.
“A viral photo of a very in-shape Sean McVay on a boat seems to have made its way around the Rams locker room,” 60 Minutes shared.
McVay admitted that when he was thinking about leaving coaching and getting into broadcasting, his wife hit him with a reality check.
“I was ready to run away from coaching and hide behind a convenient narrative of some media opportunities, I’ll never forget. I was explaining to my wife, Veronika, it was a daunting task ahead for the ’23 season. And I remember tellin’ her, ‘Maybe I’ll take a year off.’ and she said, ‘That never sounded like the kinda leader you wanted to be,’” he admitted.
“You know, I think it was the wakeup call that I needed.”
The Rams are off to a tough start in 2026, but there’s a lot of football to be played this season.
