Just in time for Monterey Car Week, Range Rover has dropped a one-off 1993 Classic that’s been restored to look and feel just like the latest SV Ultra. This isn’t your average restomod job – the Classic division went all-in, treating it as a full-on bespoke commission.
The result? Both the restored Classic and the first US-market Range Rover SV Ultra are hitting the auction block as a matched set at RM Sotheby’s during Monterey Car Week. It’s a double feature that puts Range Rover’s heritage and modern craftsmanship on full display.
Modern Luxury Meets Classic Design
The link between these two SUVs starts with the paint. The 1993 Classic rocks Titan Silver, the same shade that debuted on the SV Ultra. Thanks to fine aluminum flakes and some high-tech pigments, the finish looks like liquid metal – suddenly, this 33-year-old SUV feels right at home in 2024.
The Classic doesn’t just stop at paint, either. It rolls on 16-inch three-spoke wheels in Satin Platinum Atlas with diamond-turned rims, sports the new SV Ultra hood lettering, and ditches the old side trim for a sleeker look. Pop the hood, and you’ll spot a plaque marking it as the very first bespoke matched-pair build.

Step inside and the story keeps going. This is the first Classic to get Ultrafabrics, decked out in the same Orchid White and Cinder Grey combo as the SV Ultra. The dash, steering wheel, seats, and door panels all borrow cues from the new flagship, right down to the laser-cut seat patterns and mosaic perforations. Brushed aluminum, matching speaker covers, and perfectly coordinated trim tie it all together – without erasing the Classic’s original vibe.
A faithful restoration headed to auction
Sure, the looks are modern, but under the skin, it’s all old-school. The donor started out as a US-spec County Edition with a 3.9-liter V8 and a four-speed auto. Range Rover’s Classic team poured about 2,000 hours into the restoration – fabrication, paint, upholstery, engineering, the works.
Engine, transmission, suspension, steering, brakes – you name it, they rebuilt it. The goal was to keep the authentic driving feel.
Collectors won’t be able to purchase the Classic by itself. Instead, it will cross the block as part of a matched pair with the new Range Rover SV Ultra during RM Sotheby’s Monterey auction on August 14. Public previews begin on August 12 at the Monterey Conference Center. Range Rover hasn’t disclosed an estimated selling price, meaning the final bid will determine just how much this two-generation collector’s set is worth.
