The Boston Red Sox did more than cruise past the Arizona Diamondbacks on Monday. They also produced a statistical rarity that had not been seen in Major League Baseball in 77 years.

All nine Boston starters recorded at least one RBI without striking out in the 11-1 win at Fenway Park. According to OptaSTATS, the Red Sox are the first MLB team to accomplish the feat since they did it against the St. Louis Browns on June 25, 1949.
The milestone highlighted a contact-heavy offensive performance as Boston consistently put the ball in play and kept pressure on Arizona pitching. Ceddanne Rafaela went 3-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored, while Andruw Monasterio drove in a run despite going 0-for-4.

Wilyer Abreu also contributed an RBI, while several other Boston starters avoided the strikeout column throughout the nine-inning victory. Brayan Bello benefited from the offensive outburst to earn the win as the Red Sox turned an unusual statistical accomplishment into a comfortable result.

The performance also matters in Boston’s postseason push. The Red Sox entered Tuesday at 67-58, sitting third in the American League East and 8.5 games behind the division-leading Tampa Bay Rays. The win gave them another boost as they continue fighting for a playoff position.
Boston’s recent form has made the timing of the milestone notable. The club had also become just the seventh team in MLB history to win 27 games during a 30-game stretch, doing so after beginning that run below .500.
The historic performance gives the Boston Red Sox another reason to believe their offense can carry them through the final weeks of the season. With the postseason race tightening, an 11-1 win built on contact, timely hitting and a rare level of production from the entire lineup could prove to be an important statement as Boston continues its push for October.
