A longtime NFL announcer has quietly stepped down ahead of the 2026 regular season, which begins in full on Sunday, September 13.

The 2026 NFL regular season kicked off on Wednesday night, with the Seahawks taking down the Patriots. The 49ers then blew out the Rams on Thursday evening. The rest of the league gets into action on Sunday and Monday.
But, ahead of the 2026 NFL regular season, longtime announcer Ron Jaworski has quietly stepped down from his position. He will not be returning to ESPN or NBC Sports Philadelphia in 2026.
The former Eagles star turned NFL announcer wants to spend more time with his family right now.
The NFL announcer quietly announced his exit this week.
“I want to sincerely thank NBC Sports Philadelphia for an incredible four years of being part of the Eagles pregame and postgame coverage,” he shared.

“I have decided it is time to cut back on my broadcast work and have made the decision not to return.
“A special thanks to my favorite teammates: Michael Barkann, Barrett Brooks, Reuben Frank, Jason Avant, and Amy Fadool for their passion, camaraderie, and friendship. I’m also grateful to Alex Matcham, Doug Brown, and Mike Mulhern for their strong leadership and support.
“It’s been a great run! Thank you all, and Go Birds!”
NFL fans will be sad to see him go, especially right before the start of the 2026 season, but it seems like it’s for the best. The former Philadelphia Eagles player turned NFL announcer is choosing to prioritize time with his family.
There’s certainly nothing wrong with that, especially as you get to the end of your career.
