Ronny Mauricio remains healthy at Triple-A Syracuse, but the New York Mets have yet to open a clear path for his return to the majors.

Mauricio has continued working at the Triple-A level after being optioned there in July. The infielder returned from a left thumb fracture in June but was sent back to Syracuse after appearing in 17 major league games this season.
The decision has left Mauricio in an unusual position. He has already dealt with a lengthy recovery from a torn right ACL and another injury this season, but his current obstacle is playing time rather than his health.
Mauricio hit .180 with one home run and two RBIs across 50 at-bats during his limited major league action. He was optioned back to Syracuse after Jorge Polanco returned from the injured list and the Mets needed room on their roster.

His situation could become more complicated this offseason as the Mets evaluate their infield. Mauricio has experience at several positions, but the club has continued to find competition for those spots.
For now, Syracuse remains his immediate destination. Mauricio has shown flashes of the power that once made him one of the organization’s top prospects, including a three-home-run game for Syracuse earlier this season.
The Mets entered Sunday at 55-69 and last in the National League East, according to the standings supplied for this story. With the postseason picture no longer driving their decisions, the club can use the final weeks to evaluate its roster for 2027.
Mauricio’s health removes one concern, but his future in New York remains less certain. The Mets will have to determine whether he can earn a regular role or whether another roster solution makes more sense.
