Beginning in July, Roseville City Council meetings will offer residents a new way to participate.

Community members will be able to attend meetings remotely through Microsoft Teams, making it possible to provide public comment without attending in person.
Previously, the city livestreamed City Council meetings, allowing residents to watch remotely but not participate in public comment.

Lisa Atwood, Roseville’s marketing and communications analyst, said the new remote participation option is a response to the state’s Brown Act.

The Brown Act guarantees the public’s right to attend and participate in meetings of local legislative bodies, including those held online.
“The changes are intended to improve accessibility, transparency and public engagement by allowing residents to participate in meetings and provide public comment remotely,” Atwood said.
Residents can access the Microsoft Teams link through each City Council meeting agenda, which is posted on the city’s website before every meeting.
