A Roseville sushi restaurant has shut after nearly two years in the area.
Azayaka Japanese Fusion closed on Sept. 25, announcing its closure on its website. The Japanese restaurant opened in 2024 at 6726 Stanford Ranch Road and was known for its sushi rolls, fresh nigiri, and paper hot pot. Paper hot pot is a style of cooking where fire-resistant paper bowls tucked into mesh strainers are placed over tabletop burners that keep the food at a simmer.

Azayaka Japanese Fusion Roseville was an otsumami-style restaurant, meaning it served smaller portion foods that are meant to be served with alcoholic drinks. The restaurant also offered a to-go menu.
In a public statement, the owner of Azayaka Japanese Fusion wrote that they are putting their primary focus on the franchise’s Sacramento location at 8760 La Riviera Drive.
In an interview with The Sacramento Bee, owner Hiro Ip said the Roseville eatery closure was a “strategic business decision.”

“Running two locations requires significant resources in terms of management, staffing,” Ip said. “It would be better for us to focus on one and continue to develop the Azayaka concept and improving the experiences, the service, or the quality of our food for Sacramento customers.”
Founded in 2022, Ip said that while the Sacramento restaurant has a longer history and stronger connection with its customers, Roseville had a loyal fan base. He encouraged those who loved the Roseville restaurant to come to the Sacramento location.
“I really appreciate them supporting us because we have a lot of regular customers in Roseville,” Ip said. “I really thank them for their support, they made us who we are today.”
