Kings games will not be broadcast by KHTK during the 2026-27 NBA season, ending the team’s 32-year partnership with the Sacramento region’s largest sports radio station. KHTK’s contract with the Kings has ended and the two sides were unable to reach a new agreement after months of negotiations.
The Kings announced alternative plans Thursday after deciding to take the production and distribution of their radio broadcasts in house. The team unveiled plans for Kings Radio, which will provide fans with new ways to listen to the team’s radio broadcasts.
Kings Radio will allow fans to listen to games for free across multiple audio platforms. Fans will be able to listen to games on Kings.com, the Kings app and SiriusXM.

The new options will be available starting Oct. 5 when the Kings play their first preseason game against the Los Angeles Lakers at Golden 1 Center in Sacramento. Kings Radio will complement Kings+, the organization’s free streaming platform, as part of the team’s ongoing efforts to make team content more accessible across multiple platforms.
Gary Gerould, Henry Turner and Jason Ross will continue to call games on the English-language broadcast. The Kings are also introducing a new Spanish-language broadcast featuring Armando Botello.
“Kings Radio is an investment in our fans, giving us greater ability to innovate, expand access and bring Kings basketball to a larger audience,” John Rinehart, the team’s president of business operations, said in a news release. “As the way fans consume sports continues to evolve, we’re making it easier to listen across more platforms, introducing a Spanish-language broadcast and continuing to feature the legendary voices that have been a treasured part of Kings basketball for generations.”
