Sacramento’s Aftershock music festival draws record crowd during sweltering weekend

An estimated 180,000 people attended the Aftershock music festival in Sacramento, organizers said, a record crowd for the four-day event.

The total beats the 2025 attendance of 165,000, Mike Testa, president of Visit Sacramento, said in an email after consulting promoter Danny Wimmer Presents.

Attendees braved near-record hot weather for much of the festival. Sacramento Bee meteorologist Sean Macaday said that temperatures reached 99 degrees Saturday afternoon, well above average for early October.

The Discovery Park event concluded Sunday following a musical lineup featuring acts including My Chemical Romance, Limp Bizkit, Pierce The Veil and Tool.

Local bands Dance Gavin Dance and Oleander entertained the crowd as well during what’s billed one of the largest rock and metal concerts in the nation with five stages and more than 140 bands.

General admission tickets started at $252 for single-day passes and around $446 for 4-day passes.

The festival is expected to return in October 2027.
