This is the one for me. The Street Fighter Ryu x Puma is the best of an impressive collaboration between Puma and the iconic Capcom fighting game. It’s a huge time for Street Fighter with the new film on the way and collabs all over the place. It seems only right that we see a sneaker team-up in the mix. The other two options in the set are Ken and Chun-Li. I covered the Ken design earlier, but the white-based Ryu has me all in my feels. Let’s talk sneakers.

This is the first official Street Fighter sneaker Capcom and Puma have made together, though Capcom has run the idea before with Reebok and with Adidas. Puma has also proven the Suede can carry a character license, with One Piece and Pokemon packs already behind it. The build is a suede toecap over leather side panels across all three pairs, and the white base puts the Ryu closest to the standard Suede that most people already own.

There’s something classic and stylish about the Ryu colorway that isn’t present with the Ken and Chun-Li. It’s also the more traditional, classic look, which also explains why I favor it over the others.
