Sunday Night Football Prop Bets: Detroit Lions at Carolina Panthers in Week 4

It’s cat vs. cat on Sunday night as the Detroit Lions (2-1) face the Carolina Panthers (1-2) in a potential shootout. Both teams boast top-five scoring offenses and bottom-10 defenses. From a gambling perspective, this game has me thinking it might be a good week to take some bigger chances on the NFL’s leading passer and the No. 2 player in total yards from scrimmage in plus matchups.

There’s a natural crossover between fantasy football and NFL player prop bets. If you haven’t participated in sports betting but love fantasy sports, this is as fine as any place to begin. You can wager as little as pennies just to get your feet wet. Aside from the thrill of winning real money, it’s a fun way to test your knowledge and prognostication skills.

Lions RB Jahmyr Gibbs 140+ Combined Rushing/Receiving Yards (-115)

In three games this season, Gibbs has totaled 186, 113, and 164 combined yards, respectively. On the other side of the matchup, the Panthers have allowed 179 yards per game to opposing backs—that includes an NFL-high 434 rushing yards. Gibbs will get most of the touches, and you could absolutely justify pushing toward 150-plus (+119) or even 160-plus (+162) if you’re feeling bold.

Panthers QB Bryce Young 250+ Passing Yards (+110)

Young entered Week 4 as the NFL leader in passing yards, averaging 313 per game. The Lions entered Week 4 as the NFL’s worst pass defense, allowing 326 gross yards per game. Like Gibbs, you could rationalize pressing your luck at 10-yard intervals, even as high as 300-plus (+327).

Panthers TE Darren Waller 40+ Receiving Yards (+158)

Not only do the Lions rank at the bottom in overall pass defense, they’re also the worst in the league at defending tight ends—in three games, they’ve allowed 351 yards (117 per game), which is 52 more than anyone else. Waller topped 50 yards in Week 3, and with Jalen Coker (quad) battling an injury, the veteran tight end could be heavily involved on Sunday night.
