NFL and college football fans have grown more and more annoyed by political ads airing during games. A President Trump ad, paid for by the U.S. Government, is a particular issue for some fans.
Longtime NFL reporter John McCain shared: “Is anyone else so sick of political ads on television they want to projectile vomit, or is it just me?”
Another NFL fan added: “I really REALLLLLLYYYY hate how political ads have infiltrated every sports game. THIS IS ME TIME!! I don’t want to think about anything connected to news/work during my free time 😡”
The White House, meanwhile, has defended the ads, calling them public service announcements that “are very clearly not campaign ads.”
CBS Sports’ Todd Fuhrman is another complainer.
He wrote on X: “If we could do away with any and all political ads during college football Saturdays and NFL Sundays that would be outstanding. I don’t care get them off my TV.”

Sam Monson, an analyst for PFF, said that he would “pay a depressing sum of money to be able to opt out of political ads.”
Unfortunately, they’re likely not going away.
“If you’re seeing political TV ads during 🏈 for elections far away from where you live, that’s because at this stage in the cycle it is likely less expensive to buy a TV ad during a regional/national NFL game than to buy it locally. Or there’s more inventory nationally,” Ed O’Keefe shared.
“That’s right – more expensive to buy 30 seconds in the Des Moines or Dallas markets – if there’s no air time left there – than to buy it nationwide.”
So, while a lot of NFL fans are complaining about the ads, it seems clear that they’re not going away anytime soon.
