When Did the Rams Last Play the Bills? What Changed Since Their 44-42 Shootout

The last time the Los Angeles Rams saw the Buffalo Bills, the two teams combined for 86 points at SoFi Stadium. The Rams won 44-42 on Dec. 8, 2024, holding on after Josh Allen scored his sixth touchdown of the afternoon with one minute left. Monday night’s rematch in Inglewood comes almost two years later, and a lot looks different on both sidelines.

Allen threw for 342 yards and three touchdowns and ran for 82 yards and three more. Buffalo still never led. Matthew Stafford went 23 of 30 for 320 yards and two touchdown passes, Kyren Williams ran for two scores, and Puka Nacua caught 12 passes for 162 yards while adding a rushing touchdown. Hunter Long even returned a blocked punt for a score.

What changed for the Rams

The biggest change is in the trophy case. Stafford followed Allen’s 2024 MVP season by winning the award in 2025, so Monday is a meeting of the last two winners.

The supporting cast around him is different, too. Cooper Kupp, who caught a touchdown in the 2024 game, is gone, and Davante Adams now lines up across from Nacua. On defense, the Rams traded for cornerback Trent McDuffie and added Myles Garrett, giving Chris Shula more ways to handle a quarterback who accounted for all six Buffalo touchdowns last time.

Los Angeles enters at 2-2 after a comeback win in Philadelphia, though Stafford’s turnovers have been a recurring issue early in the season.

What changed for the Bills

Buffalo has a new head coach. The Bills moved on from Sean McDermott after last season and promoted Joe Brady, who has guided the team to a 3-1 start. The lone loss came last week, 29-26 to the Patriots, when a late Allen interception sealed it.

The receiver room has been reshaped as well. The Bills acquired D.J. Moore from the Bears in March, though a shoulder injury has clouded his availability, and Keon Coleman is coming off a six-catch, 116-yard game. Buffalo also signed edge rusher Bradley Chubb to bolster the pass rush that couldn’t slow Stafford in 2024.

The secondary is the question mark. Cornerback Christian Benford missed the Patriots game with a foot injury, and Buffalo’s coverage now has to deal with Nacua and Adams together.

The 2024 game came down to which defense could get one more stop. With two MVP quarterbacks and new pieces on both sides, Monday night could look a lot like it.
