The districts could use the bond money only for the school facility projects listed in the measures. If voters approve, they would get the money needed for the projects by selling bonds to investors, then repay the investors, with interest, through property taxes over time.
What are the measures asking?
Measure D would allow Natomas Unified to borrow up to $300 million for facilities projects including school repairs, safety upgrades and career-training facilities. The tax is expected to raise about $22 million a year, and property owners would pay an average of roughly $59 annually for every $100,000 of assessed value to repay the bonds.
Center Joint Unified’s Measure E would let the district borrow up to $197 million for projects like school repairs, safety upgrades, classroom improvements and new space to keep up with enrollment growth. The tax is expected to raise $12.3 million a year and cost property owners an average of about $55 annually for every $100,000 of assessed value.
Measure G would authorize Galt Joint Union High School District to borrow up to $43 million for projects including school repairs, safety upgrades and vocational training facilities. The tax is expected to raise about $3.1 million a year and cost property owners an average of $29.62 annually for every $100,000 of assessed value.
