The 2027 NFL Draft is projected to have a handful of bluechip prospects at the quarterback position, so it’s no surprise that rumors are already swirling one week into the 2026 regular season.

Ohio State’s Julian Sayin and Texas star Arch Manning came into the 2026 season as the most intriguing quarterback prospects. We also can’t forget Oregon quarterback Dante Moore, who turned down the chance to be a top-10 pick last April.
As for emerging prospects, USC quarterback Jayden Maiava and Oklahoma State’s Drew Mestemaker are quickly putting the NFL world on notice.
“I think it’s holding strong,” a veteran NFL scout said, via ESPN. “You’re going to ride the wave of the season. Sam Leavitt had three picks this weekend. Darian Mensah is rising like a rocket. Jayden Maiava is playing well. John Mateer is arrow down. We’ll see who settles in.”

The race for a 2027 QB could be highly entertaining.
According to ESPN’s Pete Thamel, there are 10 “obvious” NFL teams that could be in the market for a rookie quarterback in 2027.
Here are the 10 teams:
- Browns
- Cardinals
- Colts
- Dolphins
- Falcons
- Jets
- Saints
- Seahawks
- Steelers
- Vikings
The Seattle Seahawks have a proven winner in Sam Darnold, but concerns about his age and contract could make them an interesting suitor for a rookie quarterback next April.
Teams like the New Orleans Saints and Minnesota Vikings, meanwhile, are hoping they have their long-term answer in Tyler Shough and Kyler Murray, respectively.
