Mookie Betts has a message for Los Angeles Dodgers fans following Thursday’s win over the Cincinnati Reds, which clinched the Dodgers’ fifth straight National League West title after a tumultuous season for the 33-year-old shortstop.

Betts entered Thursday’s game batting .250 with a .316 on-base percentage and a 103 OPS+, well off his career norms. He had 20 home runs with 62 RBIs in 114 games this season, missing time with an oblique strain and facing criticism from parts of the fan base during his early slump, which even led him to step away from social media in May.
“Thank you for sticking with me. I know it was hard,” Betts said in an interview with David Vassegh of SportsNet LA. “I make it hard sometimes, but thank you for sticking by my side. By our side. We’ve got something special coming.” (h/t Dodger Blue on X.com)

Betts has been part of the Dodgers’ last five division titles, and has built a reputation as one of the club’s biggest stars since joining the team in 2020.
A player who has been part of multiple World Series-winning teams, Betts has learned from experience what it takes to win championships, leaning on his teammates and coaches to help guide him through the process.
With the division locked up, the Dodgers now have roughly a week and a half to set their postseason rotation and lineup. The veteran is preparing to lead the Dodgers back to October baseball, chasing the club’s third straight World Series title.
