At least $13,000 worth of fireworks were stolen from San Juan High School on Sunday, a spokesperson for the school wrote in a social media statement Monday.

The fireworks, which were being sold by the school’s boosters — parent volunteers that raise funds to support students, faculty and athletic programs — were stolen from their sales booth at Arcadia Drive and Greenback Lane between 6:45 a.m. and 7:20 a.m. Sunday morning. A private security guard was on a restroom break when the theft occurred, a spokesperson for San Juan High School wrote in a Facebook post.
Citrus Heights police received the report regarding the theft at approximately 2:26 p.m. Sunday, a spokesperson for the department said in an interview. Officers canvassed the scene, and concluded that the fireworks had been appropriately secured the previous night at 8:30 p.m. before the theft occurred the next morning.

Investigators were yet to identify any suspects in the case as of Monday afternoon, citing that the investigation remained ongoing.
San Juan High School administrators could not be reached for comment Monday.
In Sunday’s Facebook post, a spokesperson for the high school said that the theft “likely means we will have raised no funds” and were “hoping boosters doesn’t run a loss,” urging witnesses to come forward.
