Despite sitting at 40-57, the New York Mets are certainly happy to have outfielder Juan Soto after handing him a 15-year, $765 million contract. Now at the All-Star break in year two of his deal, the 27-year-old is slashing .290/.405/.562 for a .967 OPS.

He has also accumulated 44 runs scored, 80 hits, 21 home runs and 51 RBIs in 276 at-bats. After earning his fifth career All-Star nod and first with the Mets, he is playing up to his usual standards.
Despite now thriving in Queens, Soto continues to face questions about his stint with the New York Yankees. He spent just one season with the team in 2024, but it was a memorable stint, making a World Series appearance.
While speaking to Juan Francisco Kranwinkel, the slugger was asked whether or not he missed playing for the Yankees. In an X post later transcribed by Phillip Feliz, Soto made it clear he doesn’t regret leaving them for the Mets.
“I’m good, thank God,” he said. “I don’t have any mindset of missing anything, the past is the past. Of course, they’re still my friends. We stay in touch, we talk, and we chat, but thank God, I’m good where I am right now.”

Juan Soto on if he misses the Yankees:

While Soto moved on, it wasn’t as though the Yankees weren’t interested in signing him to a long-term contract. According to ESPN’s Jorge Castillo, before signing with the Mets, he was offered a 16-year, $760 million deal with the Yankees.
Under contract through the 2039 season, he has continued to embrace his future with the Mets. While he stays in contact with some of his former teammates on the Yankees, his current focus is on bringing his current team a championship.
