Looking to save some money at the California State Fair?

The fair does allow visitors to bring outside food, drinks and even coolers into the Cal Expo fairgrounds — with a few restrictions.

Outside food and sealed plastic water bottles are allowed, but glass, aluminum cans, hydro flasks, metal water bottles and outside alcohol are not.

Coolers are allowed but must be attached to a wagon. They are subject to a search when you take them through security.

Coolers cannot exceed 12 inches by 18 inches in size, the fair code of conduct said. Single wagons are allowed but cannot be connected to other wagons.

All bags must be clear plastic, vinyl, or PVC no larger than 12 -by-12-by-12 inches, or a one gallon clear plastic bag or a small clutch bag.

The fair’s website also has a list of other tips including the availability of lockers and which buildings on the fairgrounds are air conditioned.
