St. Louis Cardinals OF Jordan Walker has carried his success from the Home Run Derby into the second half. He looks to cash a YRFI against the Cincinnati Reds Saturday. We also like the Kansas City Royals-Detroit Tigers and San Diego Padres-Miami Marlins NRFI bets.

Best NRFI and YRFI Bets Today
Cincinnati Reds at St. Louis Cardinals YRFI (-115)
Reds RHP Hunter Greene has had a rough start to his season following injury recovery. He’s 2-1 but has a 6.06 ERA and a 12.00 first-inning ERA, albeit in just three starts. RHP Andre Pallante goes for the Cards, and he has been better than expected at 10-6 with a 4.02 ERA. He’s prone to bad starts, though, with a 6.16 ERA in the first inning. We look for one of these pitchers to get jumped on early.

Kansas City Royals at Detroit Tigers NRFI (-125)
Royals RHP Michael Wacha is 5-7 with a 3.66 ERA, and he’ll be a sought-after pitcher at the trade deadline. He has a 3.15 ERA in the first inning, and that number has come down a lot recently. He hasn’t given up a run in the first in six straight starts. For the Tigers, former No. 1 overall pick RHP Casey Mize is having a brilliant season in a contract year. He’s 4-6 but has a 2.79 ERA. He has yet to allow an earned run in the first through 15 starts.
San Diego Padres at Miami Marlins NRFI (-125)
Padres LHP JP Sears won’t wow you from a statistical standpoint, but he has yet to allow a run in the first through five starts. Conversely, Marlins RHP Eury Perez will wow you with stuff. He’s 5-7 with a 3.53 ERA with 104 K’s in 91 2/3 IP. His first-inning ERA sits at 4.24, but that doesn’t paint the entire portrait. He has only allowed a run in the first in one of his last six starts, and that start came in Coors Field.
What Does NRFI and YRFI Mean in Baseball?
The term NRFI indicates no runs scored in the first inning. Its opposite, YRFI, indicates yes, a run will be scored in the first inning. It doesn’t matter if the run qualifies as an earned run or not. If a run crosses the plate in the first inning for either team, the wager loses for the NRFI side and wins for the YRFI side.
