If Carlos Alcaraz makes his return to tennis at the US Open, he might pull up to Arthur Ashe Stadium with a new hairstyle.

Alcaraz, 23, started off the 2026 season by defeating Novak Djokovic in the Australian Open final. His victory in Melbourne made him the youngest player to ever complete the career Grand Slam. Unfortunately, he was unable to compete at Roland Garros and Wimbledon due to a wrist injury.
“My recovery is going well and I feel much better, but unfortunately I’m still not ready to be able to play, and that’s why I have to withdraw from the grass-court swing at Queen’s and Wimbledon,” Alcaraz said. “They are two really special tournaments for me and I’ll miss them a lot. We keep working to return as soon as possible!”
The good news is that Alcaraz is inching closer to his return. The seven-time Grand Slam champion shared footage of him hitting forehands on Wednesday.
Alcaraz also revealed that he’s rocking a new hairstyle at the moment. However, tennis fans don’t exactly love what he’s bringing to the table.

“He got the zero-aura cornrows,” one fan commented.
“Alcaraz, please stop these awful hairstyles,” a second fan said. “Your old hairstyle was so much better.”
“What is this nonsense,” another fan wrote.
What’s Carlos Alcaraz’s status for the US Open?
Earlier this month, Alcaraz’s name was spotted on the entry list for the US Open. Barring a setback, he should be good to go in late August. It’s also worth noting that he’s set to compete at the Cincinnati Masters.
Alcaraz has plenty of points to defend in the next six weeks since he won the Cincinnati Masters and US Open in 2025. He defeated Jannik Sinner in the finals of both tournaments.

The US Open will begin on Aug. 30.
