One lot of a nut butter sold under a Walmart house brand has been recalled after state of Florida testing found salmonella in three jars.

The recall was issued Monday of Bettergoods Pistacio Nut Butter covering Walmart stores in 19 states. But the recall notice by importer Botticelli Foods indicated Walmart has known about the issue for over two weeks.
“The recall was initiated after Walmart learned on July 17, 2026 that the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services had, as part of a routine inspection, tested three jars of the product at a Walmart retail store and identified the presence of salmonella,” the company-written, FDA-posted recall said.

The recalled nut butter comes in 6.7-ounce jars with UPC Code 194346207961, lot No. LB028ACP04 and a Jan. 28, 2027, expiration date. They went to Walmarts in Florida, Washington, Missouri, Mississippi, Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Colorado, Georgia, Idaho, Kansas, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, South Dakota, Tennessee and Wyoming.

The nut butter was made by Gustibus Alimentari Srl of Assoro, Italy.
Salmonella is one of the most common foodborne illnesses, hitting about 1.35 million people in the United States each year, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The federal agency estimates only about one in 30 illnesses get diagnosed because people tend to recover from the four to seven days of diarrhea and stomach cramps, sometimes with vomiting and headaches, without needing to see a doctor.
