Highway Patrol officers were called to the home in the 700 block of Meadow Gate Road shortly after 2:35 p.m. CHP officials said the child’s father was moving a pickup truck in the driveway and had seen the child near the driveway before moving the vehicle.
The driver felt an impact as he moved the truck forward and stopped immediately, then told his wife to call 911.
Emergency personnel responded, but the boy died from the injuries, CHP officials said.

The CHP is investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash, but officials said alcohol and drugs are not believed to have been factors.
Officials offered their sympathies to the family in a statement.
“The California Highway Patrol extends its deepest condolences to the child’s family during this extraordinarily difficult time,” said Capt. Andy Beasley, commander of the CHP’s Auburn area.
