Brittany Alondra Boltinhouse, of Duplin County, was Miss Wilmington and won the title of Miss North Carolina USA at the June competition. But she will not compete for the Miss USA title, Miss North Carolina USA CEO Thom Brodeur wrote in a Wednesday night statement.
Boltinhouse’s conduct reflected not just one moment but a pattern “over an extended period of time,” Brodeur wrote. Brodeur did not specify how Boltinhouse violated Miss North Carolina USA policy but wrote that the organization “does not tolerate racism, homophobia, transphobia nor language that strips any person of their dignity — no matter who they are.”
“That is not a policy written for a press release,” Brodeur wrote. “It is the floor of what it means to represent the brand. A title here isn’t a trinket.”
Myla Hadley, the runner-up at Miss North Carolina USA 2026, now holds the title and will compete in Miami for the Miss USA crown from Aug. 24-27.

Hadley is a business broker for Transworld Business Advisors and the founder of herbal medicine company Zenith House of Wellness. In a Wednesday night statement, Hadley wrote that she understands the prestige of the title, and she and her team were ready to compete for the Miss USA crown.
