Police are investigating the death of a 24-year-old man whose body was found Thursday morning in downtown Placerville.

Police responded about 8 a.m. Thursday to the 400 block of Main Street after receiving a report of an unresponsive man. Officers found the man, who was pronounced dead at the scene. The department has not released his identity pending notification of next of kin.
The investigation is ongoing, but police said there are no indications of foul play or threat to the community.

Main Street, where police found the body, is in the heart of Placerville’s historic district. The 400 block includes businesses such as Placerville Hardware, Ancient Hold Jewelers and Placerville Public House.
