A fire weather watch was issued by the NWS Medford OR on Wednesday at 11:53 a.m. valid for Friday between 2 p.m. and 9 p.m. The watch is for Central Siskiyou County Including Shasta Valley, Siskiyou County from the Cascade Mountains East and South to Mt Shasta and Modoc County Except for the Surprise Valley.

Residents can expect winds to be south to southwest 10 to 20 mph with gusts 25 to 30 mph possible and minimum humidity 12 to 17%.

“Gusty winds combined with low RH could lead to the rapid spread of any new or existing fires,” says the NWS.

This watch is in effect until Friday at 9 p.m.

According to the NWS, a fire weather watch means that critical fire weather conditions are possible. Listen for later forecasts and possible red flag warnings.
