A mild quake shook the town of Parkfield — the famed Earthquake Capital of the World — on Saturday evening.

The 2.8-magnitude quake occurred at 5:47 p.m. just northwest of the town in southern Monterey County, which is located directly over the San Andreas Fault.
It was recorded at a depth of 2.7 miles., according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

It was not widely felt, with only one report on the USGS site.
