Sacramento’s SMUD Museum of Science and Curiosity has named a new executive director.

Carlos Gonzalez-Jaime will take over Oct. 1, the museum announced in a Monday news release.
The museum, which opened in 2021 at 400 Jibboom St., is “immersive science center and community gathering space” with 200,000 visitors annually and more than 100 interactive exhibits.
Gonzalez-Jaime has served as founding director of Transform in Fort Worth since 2022. He’s also worked at the Papalote Museo del Niño in Mexico City and spent 13 years in senior leadership at Hewlett-Packard.

“Our board set out to find a leader who has built institutions — someone who can honor what makes MOSAC special while expanding what it can do for this region. Carlos has done exactly that in the U.S. and Mexico in both the nonprofit and corporate worlds,” said Steve Hansen, MOSAC board president.
Gonzalez-Jaime said he plans to spend his first 100 days on a “listening tour.”
“MOSAC sits at the intersection of science, education, innovation, and community—exactly where I want to focus my energy and passion,” he said.
Gonzalez-Jaime replaces Daniela Calvitti, who served as interim executive director.
