A gluten-free Nashville-style hot chicken restaurant has permanently closed after one year in downtown Sacramento.

Fire & Crisp at 1023 K St. has ceased operations at its downtown storefront, according to its Yelp page. The business closed earlier in August, although its exact closure date was unclear.
The spicy fried chicken restaurant took some of its inspiration from fan-fave fast food franchises such as In-N-Out Burger and Raising Cane’s, its owner told The Sacramento Bee a year ago.
There was no response to a request for comment on the closure.
Fire & Crisp was owned by entrepreneur Cesar Jimenez, a newcomer to fast food restaurant operations, but not new to owning a business, according to previous reporting by The Bee.

The restaurant, which opened in July 2025, took over the Nash & Proper hot chicken restaurant location in the Crest Theatre building. At the time, a Fire & Crisp social media post talked about what it took to rebuild in the former Nash & Proper spot.
Fire & Crisp served chicken sandwiches, wings, chicken tenders and fries, loaded mac and cheese with fried chicken on top, according to its menu. It billed itself as gluten-free, using homemade rice flour instead of wheat for its fried chicken as well as gluten-free buns.
Fire & Crisp is now part of a list of K Street businesses that have closed this year, among them a cluster of businesses in the 700 block, including Tiger Restaurant & Lounge, Koja Kitchen, Cakes by Jeff, Tandoori Pizza and Pressed Juicery.
